Digitising Embroidery for an Eco-Friendly Wardrobe

With issues such as global warming and excessive use of chemicals in day-to-day living threatening the future of our planet, it only makes sense to make choices on an individual level that add up to create a safer environment for future generations. For those who love to follow a partially or strictly organic lifestyle, digitising embroidery can prove to be a great blessing.

Whether you are a design house or an individual, by choosing to give your designs for digitising embroidery, you choose to make a safer choice in embellishments, while staying fashionable and trendy. By choosing to get your designs embroidered, you not only keep yourself away from the harsh paints and chemicals generally used for printing on fabrics, but also do away with the need for artificial embellishments, which can again be quite hazardous if ingested by children or pets.

Contrary to popular belief, with the advent of digitising embroidery, you can now choose to get a range of simple to complex designs embroidered onto a variety of fabrics. With the help of digitising embroidery, you can custom design just about anything, from your tote bag to denims and even leather jacket. It’s as simple as picking a design off the internet and getting your digitizer working on how to best incorporate it onto the fabric of your choice.

Since embroidery does not require the use of harsh chemicals during the digitizing embroidery process, stitching process or even later when washing, it becomes one of the most eco-friendly ways to pep up your wardrobe. You could also go ahead to jazz up any old or new addition to your wardrobe with embroidery, since there are no such restrictions. In fact, you could even instruct your embroiderer to use only organically safe threads for your creations. And, why stop at just your wardrobe, you could also have fun playing interior designer with embroidered designs adorning your entire living space.

Embroidery Digitizer: The Stitching Order Dilemma

Keeping a keen interest in how your artwork shapes up is highly encouraged at PowerStitch.com. This is why we try and keep you up-to-date on the various processes and elements considered by our team of embroidery digitizers when trying to bring your designs to life. Smooth execution during the production run is perhaps one of the biggest challenges that dictates whether an embroidery digitizer has done his/her job successfully or not. And, one of the major decisions that a digitizing professional needs to make at this time is how to sequence the stitches so that seamless execution can be achieved.

When digitizing the embroidery for any kind of a design, logo or artwork, a general rule of thumb followed by an embroidery digitizer is to get the same color threadwork done in a single go. This not only makes a lot of sense, but also ensures that too many thread changes and breaks do not delay the production process. In addition to this general rule, an embroidery digitizer will also attempt to get all the stitches of neighboring areas that require the use of the same thread done in a line-wise fashion. Employing this technique ensures that there are no jump stitches in the final piece.

Another common practice employed by an embroidery digitiser is to prioritize the stitching of larger areas first and then move over to the tinier areas inside. This ensures that the final piece is filled in better and does not feature any unsightly gaps. Last, but not the least, when dealing with contours, our professional digitizers tend to schedule the printing of lines in the end in order to get a better finished product on hand. Now, while the above mentioned techniques are the recommended guidelines, our team of professionals does not shy away from experimenting and creating their own order when test runs show hiccups.

Embroidery Digitizing Service: Make Your ‘Mama n Baby’ Theme Event a Hit

Be it a trade show, convention or a simple roadside promotional event, adding a goodie-bag full of giveaways is one of the easiest ways to grab attention and win yourself some eager customers. However, for those tip-toeing around sensitive themes for their promotional event such as calling out to babies and their mommies, deciding on the right kind of products to include in your giveaway bag can be one of the toughest decisions to make. With a host of regulations concerning children’s products and their safety, it is of utmost importance to come up with free merchandise that will not prove to be harmful to the little ones. This is where partnering with an embroidery digitizing service provider will come in handy.

Having your brand logo or tagline embroidered onto any fabric-based giveaway with the help of a professional embroidery digitizing service firm will save you from a world of hassles and safety regulations, while making the product absolutely safe for use with kids. Considering that embroidery becomes a part of the fabric, it does not pose any threat of choking to little ones, as it will only unravel and break away when tugged at.

An experienced embroidery digitizing service professional will also advice you against the use of sequins, beads or 3D puff designs, while 3D effect designs will still prove to be safer. Another major plus point of using an embroidery digitizing service professional and having your logo sewed onto your giveaway is that embroidery does not entail the use of harsh chemicals, which again makes it completely safe for young ones, unlike most printed material.

With the help of an experienced embroidery digitising service professional, you can get your brand name splashed across a host of free merchandise. Your choice of fabrics will expand to and include towels, fleece blankets, bibs, caps, hoodies and even booties. You could either choose to giveaway these products separately or even create a basketful of delights for babies and their mothers, depending on your budget. Marketing your brand with the help of such thoughtful freebies will not only show that you value your customers, but also that you care for their loved ones as much as they do.

Embroidery Digitizing Vs. Screen Printing

When it comes to getting your logo or brand name placed onto fabric, whether it is for use in a uniform, merchandise or freebies, getting confused between choosing to go with screen printing or embroidery digitizing seems to be quite common. Most people are unable to make up their mind, and even after choosing to go with one, keep wondering whether the other would have made a better choice. This is why we have chosen to break down the differences between screen printing and embroidery digitizing, so that you can make a clear choice for yourself and know exactly why.

Longevity – It is a well known fact that embroidery tends to last longer than prints. This advantage is an inherent quality, since embroidery thread is usually tougher and more resilient than print to regular washing and ironing activities. By choosing to go for embroidery digitizing, you automatically pick a longer-lasting marketing solution, which in turn means more impressions by default.

Care – Since embroidery behaves almost like the rest of the fabric it is sewed onto, it only needs as much care as one would tend to give their garments. This means embroidery would not require any extra attention to keep it bright and shiny for longer. However, on the other hand, most of us are familiar that printed material tends to get ruined at the slightest touch of a hot iron and regular washing tends to fade out the colors as well as crack the images.

Re-Use – By virtue of the above inherent advantages, embroidered material has more chances of being used over and over again. This not only gives your brand more exposure, but also offers you more value for your money.

Cost – If you are only looking at the cost alone of producing your uniforms or merchandise, then screen printing is the cheaper option hands down. However, with embroidery digitising solutions lasting longer, requiring less care and entailing great re-use value, you will notice that it shall prove to be a more cost-effective solution in the long run.

Digitizing Embroidery for Sororities

The freshman year is one of the most exciting times in any individual’s life. It is the first formal step into adult life and a time to enrich one’s being with lessons and experiences that hold value for the rest of one’s existence. At such an exciting yet vulnerable time, being part of a sorority not only helps students find their grounding, but also surround themselves with like-minded people with whom they can easily share their thoughts and ideas. It is a great time for bonding with peers as well as seniors. And, at a time like this, dressing up your sorority mates in the motto of your house with the help of Embroidery Digitizing holds utmost importance.

Whether you wish your sorority folks to wear caps, jackets or jerseys featuring your motto, you can easily recreate your designs into sewed on artwork with the help of a digitizing embroidery service provider like Powerstitch. At Powerstitch, all you need to do is to send in your logo, motto or other artwork and we instantly begin the process of digitizing embroidery after a quick analysis for feasibility. The feasibility analysis is important, as not all artwork may be inherently suited to be turned into embroidered pieces and certain tweaks may be necessary to help it adapt to the fabric of your choice. However, once the analysis is done, it is only a matter of a couple of hours and you can hope to see the digitized files.

By opting to go for digitizing embroidery for your sorority logo, you essentially give the gift of lifelong memories to your mates. Embroidery is known to outlast its printed peers by far. Also, since embroidery does not need exceptional care while washing or ironing, you can be assured of freshmen thanking you for a no-fuss choice in clothing. Embroidery also tends to stay intact for years, if kept decently, with very little or no chances of colors fading away.

Digitising Embroidery: Exploring the World of 3D Art

Just like any other industry needs to keep evolving to keep pace with customer demands, the digitising embroidery industry has evolved as well to offer 3D artwork as part of its services. At PowerStitch.com, we like to keep you informed regarding how your designs are brought to life, and so we bring you an insight into what all goes into the making of 3-D embroidery.

3D Foam – Available in varying sizes, 3D foam is required to set the base for the embroidery. According to the indent required, a 2mm, 3mm or 6mm foam is placed before the pattern is embroidered.

Cover Stitch – While digitising embroidery the program is instructed to perform high density satin stitches over the foam area, known as the cover stitches. Herein the satin stitches used are double the regular amount, since the stitch not only has to compensate for the foam underlay, but also is used to cut off the foam.

Tack Stitch – Also known as the basting stitch, tack stitches are temporary stitches used to hold the foam in place. These stitches can have unfinished edges, making them easy to remove.

Tie-off Stitch – Generally 1mm in length, tie-off stitches are used to keep the stitches in their place, even when the thread calls for trimming. These stitches are used to make sure that other stitches, especially satin stitches, do not unravel once the piece is finished.

Ballpoint Needle – These needles are used to execute the 3D digitising embroidery program instead of the regular sharp needles, as they create bigger holes and make it easy to perforate the foam.

Embroidery Digitising in 3D works best on smaller areas, which have a lot of fill spots and involve less intricate details. In our opinion, digitising embroidery for 3D designs works best on caps and jackets, as the 3D foam does not generally hold up well against regular washing; however, it does not mean you cannot put 3D embroidery on t-shirts or other materials.

Digitizing Embroidery – Equipment

You may wonder what sort of equipment a seasoned embroiderer would have in their workshop. Let’s look at what a typical embroiderer who enjoys doing Digitizing Embroidery would use and why. This is also a good overview if you’re considering purchasing your own equipment.

Often sewers learn to sew from someone in their family at a young age. It’s possible that you did too and that you may not even have been that interested at the time. But as one grows up and realizes the cost of clothing, being able to sew and indeed accessorizing items with the use of digitizing embroidery may become an enticing concept.

So, the best place to start is with a reasonably priced sewing machine and eventually includes items like a sewing box and serger to your growing collection. You will then need to outfit your sewing box with essentials like notions, pins, needles, bias tape, and buttons and so on.

Many a sewer will set up in a room or corner of their home and eventually start finding or taking on part time work for both experience and extra income. As you begin to grow so will your fabric stash and chances are you’ll need a bigger space for equipment and products and so you will begin to look into upgrading your equipment. Fortunately, serger and sewing machine technologies don’t move forward very quickly so investing in the best machine you can afford to start out with is a good idea.

Sergers

There are two main types of sergers. There are the cheaper kinds that can be purchased in main stores or top of the range types that can be found at specialized sewing stores. Of course, the cheaper models are just fine for casual sewers who don’t plan on using them extensively, but if you are serious about sewing your money is better spent on the most expensive models which are generally built better, function better and last a very long time.

If you have been an ardent sewer for a long time, embroidery may seem somewhat fussy and complicated what with all the hoops, stabilizers and computer programming that allow machines to sew on their own!

But if you love the look of beautifully adorned items or even gorgeous vintage clothing, then embroidery and indeed Embroidery Digitizing is the way to go! Take vintage clothing for example, recreating looks is made simple thanks to the software and equipment that allow you to virtually make your own fabric.

To make things even easier, there are embroidery machines that have loads of pre-programmed graphics that make recreating patterns a sheer pleasure.

Digitising Embroidery – Embroidery Machines

The evolution of the electronic embroidery machine has been watched closely. And many seamstresses interested in Digitising Embroidery will do their research before purchasing a machine. A good way to keep an eye on the technology and decide what type of machine would suit you is to visit your local sewing machine stores and find out what all the different manufacturers are up to and what new features are being added. Asking for demos of the machines is a great way to find out what they can do first hand.

Embroidery machine technology has moved forward rapidly since then 1990s. Perhaps not as fast as computers but it’s a close call what with components such as machine motors; steppers; cutters and robotic embroidery being computer operated and are in fact the most important parts of the machines.

Let’s take a look at a couple of machines that are great for Embroidery Digitising:

Brother SE400

This is a combo machine that can do both embroidery and sewing if you simply remove the embroidery arm. The machine has a large colour touchscreen display which makes it easier to decipher a design with more than 20 colours. Designs are also easy to load from a computer to the machine.

This combo machine allows you to both sew and embroider.

The machine comes with a variety of sewing features as well as 98 stitch functions and 67 sewing stitches. It also has the ability for home décor embellishing, clothing, digitizing embroidery and so much more. The library comes with 70 built-in designs, 5 lettering fonts and 120 frame pattern combinations. You can also just use your computer to upload designs to the machine.

The Brother SE400 is great if you don’t really like using a foot pedal as there is no need to use one. Instead there is a “go” and “stop” button for ease of use. The machine has 3 speeds that allow for an array of abilities and a user friendly LCD screen that is easy to look at.

The best function is that you can sew and embroider. The machine allows you to switch back and forth between the modes. As well as a DVD that demonstrates and explains fully.

Another great advantage is that the machine works both on a Mac and PC and because it is motorized you can hop online for designs and import them. It comes complete with 5 pre-installed fonts that are easy to use and get started. The machine is also easy to thread.

Embroidery Digitizer Skills

There are numerous skills and processes involved when it comes to converting a customer’s artwork into custom digitized files that result in a high quality finished product that will have you wanting more designs professional done by an embroidery digitizer.

So let’s take a look at the skills that are typically required of a digitizer during the embroidery process. They are the type of capabilities and skills that embroidery companies place the utmost importance on when hiring professionals for their teams and are also elements that a customer should keep in mind when researching an embroidery digitizing service too.

The first characteristic is that an embroidery digitizer should have a keen analysis; ultra-sharp analytical skills are what distinguish amateurs from professionals. With skillful analysis a digitizer can fully understand the embroidery software that he or she has to work with and will diligently know which codes will be executed by the embroidery machine. The digitizer needs to thoroughly understand how the software and embroidery digitizing machines work in order to produce high-quality pieces every single time.

The next characteristic is the ability to look ahead. This helps a professional to create a code that will produce the desired results effectively time and again – and efficiently too. A professional will always be able to suggest ways to make the design more embroidery friendly by being able to make alterations to it once it has been presented the first time round. This ability is also handy when it comes to creating an efficient digitized file that will minimize production time without hampering quality.

An embroidery digitiser will have impeccable troubleshooting capabilities too. This will help the professional to create digitized files that avoid costly production errors and take into account a whole load of factors such as thread strength, stitch pattern and the type of fabric.

A professional will always attempt to create a file that runs completely smoothly and will produce a finished product of the utmost quality.

Digitizing Embroidery – An Art

Digitizing embroidery has proved to be an art form and not simply a piece of machine work. Embroidery digitizers need to have suitable embroidery digitizing software that is capable of storing the artistic thinking figure and also possess the small details of the layout, stored so that they can be used at any time.

With the help of the embroiderydigitizing software and a skilled embroiderer, it is easier to understand the picture or text and therefore convert it into an attractive piece of stitched file. A knowledgeable embroiderer will draw each of the figures and give shape to each of the segments and layers. He or she will then form the image in such a layout that the digitizing embroidery machines will easily understand and interpret the image and produce a design of the required dimensions.

You can almost compare the process of painting and digitized embroidery: the fabric created for embroidery is the canvas and the machine that is used to embroider is the brush. The needles and threads are indeed the palettes that artists use to create their images with innovative designs. A skilled and capable embroiderer will feed the design into the machine in order for the design to be created and the machine functions as the receiver of the instructions and gets to work creating designs.

When it comes to the embroidery process, the most important work the embroiderer has to do is taking care that the information is thoroughly provided for the machine so that the final results are simply perfect. Every single detail of the design needs to be provided meticulously to the machine including: which colors are to be used for stitching.
The adjustments of the effects of light and shadows of the design also play an important role in the final product and need to be perfectly visible.

Digitizing embroidery involves creating the image file from an idea and converting it into the embroidery output with the help of the machine. The machine will use the different formats available in the software to complete the work. It doesn’t really matter if the image is in a bitmap format or vector file as you need to convert the file into a hand-made stitch file. This method helps you to observe the final results and see the minute details such as thread colors for the sew-out. The software tools will split the minuteness of the parts of redrawing, resizing, stitching beneath as well as the overlay threads.
So digitized embroidery really is an art!
